In an exciting twist for the pageant world, Thailand has been announced as the host for the 74th edition of the Miss Universe competition. Adding to the buzz, Nawat Itsaragrisil, a well-known figure in the pageant scene, has acquired ownership of Thailand's Miss Universe franchise for the next five years, starting in 2025.

Itsaragrisil, who also owns the Miss Grand International organization, will have the honor of selecting Thailand's representative for the global Miss Universe pageant later this year. He hinted at this new venture by sharing a photo on social media, featuring the Miss Universe logo, captioned: “Miss Universe x MGI Org.”

Nawat also posted a series of posters calling for applications from aspiring queens who wanted to represent Thailand in the Miss Universe 2025 pageant.

According to a document obtained by the Thai Enquirer, the deal is valued at THB180 million (approximately P309.6 million) and spans from 2025 to 2029. The document, dated February 17, 2025, reveals that the Miss Grand International board has approved an investment to organize the Miss Universe Thailand pageant, the national event that will determine the country's delegate for the Miss Universe stage.

Of the THB180 million investment, THB30 million will be sourced from Miss Grand International's working capital, with the remaining THB150 million financed through a loan from Itsaragrisil himself.

With this acquisition, the Miss Universe Organization will be replacing TPN Global Co. as the franchise holder in Thailand. Under TPN's leadership, Thailand celebrated notable successes, including the 2023 Miss Universe first runner-up Anntonia Porslid, and the 2024 third runner-up Opal Suchata.

The new Miss Universe Thailand (MUT) social media post showcased an edited photo of Nawat with Anne Jakrajutatip, the owner of JKN Global Group, which acquired the Miss Universe franchise in October 2022. The post enthusiastically stated: "Hello Universe! Hello, MGI. Welcome to the new era of beauty pageants in Thailand and the Universe!"

PUI Sankosik, the managing director of TPN Global and the current license holder of Miss Universe Thailand, expressed pride in their accomplishments, stating on Facebook: "Change is a natural thing. We are proud of what we have done. We do it with love. Let's keep going."

As Miss Grand International takes over the Miss Universe Thailand pageant, Itsaragrisil may also play a role in organizing the 74th Miss Universe pageant. Speculation is rife that Itsaragrisil and Miss Grand International are set to release an official statement tomorrow, February 18, 2025.

The grand coronation night of Miss Universe 2025 is scheduled for November 21 at the Impact Muong Thong Thani Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
